Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir said today that her office and the Travis County Attorney’s office are reviewing the Supreme Court ruling issued this morning on same gender marriage. DeBeauvoir has asked the Travis County Attorney’s office to review and interpret the legal implications of the ruling. The Travis County Attorney’s office has a team ready to review the opinion and is committed to expediting its review.

“I expect to be advised by the County Attorney as soon as possible. We want to be confident that any action taken by the County Clerk’s Office will comport with the law, and this review is essential to ensure any license we issue is unassailable.” DeBeauvoir said.

At this time, there are no changes to the County Clerk’s procedures regarding the issuing of Marriage Licenses.  Once the review of the ruling is completed the Clerk will issue a media advisory outlining any policy changes.
